Mia Is Coming to Expo

The Mia mobile app is moving to Expo.

The current Android app works. But “works” has limits — single platform, manual APK distribution, friction at every step. That’s not good enough. If Mia is your coding assistant from anywhere, “anywhere” has to include iOS.

What’s Changing

The mobile app is being rebuilt on Expo. Same React Native core. Same Hyperswarm P2P connection. Same streaming, same memory, same persona management. The architecture doesn’t change — Expo is the delivery mechanism, not the product.

What changes:

  • Cross-platform. Android and iOS from a single codebase.
  • App stores. Proper distribution through Google Play and the App Store, not manual APK installs.
  • OTA updates. Ship fixes without waiting on store review cycles.

The daemon stays exactly as it is. Everything you’ve built up — memory, project context, personas — carries over.

What’s Not Changing

The P2P model isn’t changing. Your code still doesn’t touch a cloud server. The connection between your phone and your dev machine is still direct, still encrypted, still yours.

Timeline

Soon. Not a date. When it’s solid.
